University of Florida’s Most Hateful

The University of Florida is one of few universities to discipline students arrested as part of pro-Palestinian protests beyond a slap on the wrist.

In April, Keely Gliwa was among nine people arrested during a demonstration on the University of Florida campus.

Gliwa, a 23-year-old biochemistry and molecular biology major from Gainesville, Florida, was expected to earn her master’s degree on May 2. The university withheld her diploma and suspended her for three years.

“The University of Florida is not a daycare, and we do not treat protesters like children – they knew the rules, they broke the rules, and they’ll face the consequences,” police spokesman Steve Orlando in a statement.
